New natural stone installation requires a completely level subfloor to ensure the best finished results. Once your subfloor is assessed, any imperfections or irregularities will then need to be repaired.

On your actual natural stone installation day, an adult will need to be home during the process to answer any questions that may arise from the installers. This is also your prime opportunity to ask any questions you may have or point out any considerations that have come to mind.

Designate a specific area in the home for your natural stone installation crew to keep tools that are potentially dangerous like stone cutters and hammers, as well as to cut pieces as needed. Make sure that all children and pets are kept away from the worker’s area and the rooms receiving new natural stone floors.

Your installers will specify the wait period before you can walk on the new natural stone floors and return furniture to the room. In this step, it's important to wait for the floor to cure, set, and dry completely to ensure an even surface. When returning heavy items, always pick them up or use rolling equipment to move them, and place felt pads under the legs to reduce impact.
